Drip Fed Content

The total workload of this course is significant, but as we have spread it out over 7 weeks and 5 modules, I think you will find it perfectly manageable.

However, some eager students tend to dive in a little too fast. Because there is a real danger of burnout, we forcibly drip-feed the content to you.

Steps can only be accessed in order, after uploading the tasks, and a new script will be available every 4 days.

If you keep up the pace, the Workout module with the Reverse Screenwriting task opens up 29 days after the start of the course.

If you take a little longer on the Warmup and Wonder modules, the Workout will be delayed as well.

In any case, you’ll get access to the Workout once you’ve completed all the uploads for the Wonder module.

The Wonder Module

Reading 7 scripts In 28 days is perfectly feasible, and actually quite a lot of fun. But if you’re not used to the format, and writing summaries is new to you, you might want to plan your time ahead.

The course was designed to require about 1 hour every day. For most people, this is a big commitment. However, if you want to be a screenwriter, and compared to what will follow later in your career, this is a small ask!

Because some people have struggled with the workload in the first few days, I recommend you organise your time for each screenplay in the Wonder module as follows:

• Day 1: Read the first 30-35 pages, review your story notes, and summarise what you have up until now. Typically, you should have reached that point in the script where it is clear where the story is heading.
• Day 2: Read the next 50-60 pages, and write that quick summary again. This is the bulk of the script, and it should read fairly fast as the story is now underway. Have a look over the notes for your report, to see how you’re going with that.
• Day 3: Read the final 25-40 pages, complete your draft summary, start your 250-word report, and write a first draft of your logline. If you have any questions, post them in the Facebook group, or ask a fellow student, or contact me via the message button at the bottom of the right hand sidebar.
• Day 4: Finish synopsis, logline, and report. Zip, and submit! Then, complete the quiz and enter the secret code you have received via email to unlock the next script.

For each script in the Wonder module, you will find a downloadable copy of the Workload Planner, with a checklist attached. Or you can download them all now, and print your materials in advance.

Because some modules and steps run in parallel, and are not always proportionate with the number of days spent on the tasks, here is an overview of what you should complete by which days of the course:
